MSM - Methysulfonylmethane
- MUSCLE
AND JOINT PAIN RELIEF
- HELPS
REPAIR JOINTS, CONNECTIVE TISSUE AND SKIN
Methylsulfonylmethane or MSM
was discovered by Dr. Stanley Jacob of Oregon Health Sciences University.
According to the book The Miracle of MSM by doctors Lawrence, Jacob,
and Zucker, MSM can be a natural remedy for muscular soreness and athletic
injuries, tendonitis, bursitis, carpal tunnel syndrome, osteoarthritis,
rheumatoid arthritis, fibromyalgia, post-traumatic inflammation and pain,
heartburn and hyperacidity, headaches and back pain, and allergies. MSM
is critical to the formation of connective tissue of all types. People
taking MSM may notice benefits including softer skin, harder nails, thicker
hair, and softening of scar tissue. MSM is often combined with glucosamine
and chondroitin for joint relief and repair.
MSM is a sulfur compound found naturally
in a variety of foods, including most fresh raw fruits and vegetables,
milk, meat, seafood, and some grains. However, natural MSM is volatile
and is easily lost during even moderate processing and cooking. MSM powder
is derived from DMSO and has been used as a safe dietary supplement for
over ten years. MSM is a white, crystalline powder that is odorless and
somewhat bitter tasting. It is very easy to use. MSM mixes in water more
easily than sugar and just barely affects the taste. In juice or other
beverages, it is undetectable.
Recommended use: 2000
mg. to 6000 mg. (2 g. to 6 g.) daily. It may take from 2 - 4 weeks for
effects, including pain relief, to be noticed. MSM
is remarkably non-toxic. You cannot overdose with it. A body will use
what it needs and flush out the rest.
